Top Most Google-Searched Cars in India – 2024: A Year of Exciting Automotive Trends
SUVs have significantly transformed the Indian auto industry, dominating the market and outpacing sedans, hatchbacks, and compact cars on the roads. Despite this, entry-level compact hatchbacks remain popular across the country. In today’s digital age, one of the best indicators of a car’s popularity is the volume of online searches it generates.
According to Google search data for vehicles in India in 2024, the Kia Seltos emerged as the most-searched SUV, with over eight lakh monthly searches. Shifting focus to the non-SUV category, here is a list of the top five most-searched cars in India from January to November 2024.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Leading the list of the most-searched cars in this category for 2024 is none other than the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. As one of the top-selling sedans in India, it enjoys immense popularity, garnering an average of 4.5 lakh monthly searches. This compact sedan is well-known for blending comfort with performance, featuring a 1.2-litre petrol engine available in both manual and AMT variants.
Tata Altroz
This year has been exceptionally successful for Tata Motors, with nearly all of their models surpassing sales expectations. One standout from Tata’s lineup is the Tata Altroz, which has gained significant popularity in 2024. Ranking just behind the Maruti Suzuki Dzire in Google searches, this premium hatchback has captured attention with its appealing price range. A key selling point is its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, enhancing its market appeal. Additionally, the Altroz delivers impressive performance, offering a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Honda City
Since its debut in India, the Honda City has earned a special place in the hearts of Indian car enthusiasts. Consistently among the most popular cars in the country, the Honda City secured the third spot in 2024, with an average of 3.6 lakh monthly searches. The seventh-generation Honda City, launched in 2020, has continued its legacy by winning multiple awards, including the 2024 CNB Viewers’ Choice Car of the Year. This latest model is available in both petrol and diesel variants, with options for manual and automatic transmissions.
Tata Tiago
Tata Motors’ impressive performance this year can be attributed to the success of its vehicles across various segments of the Indian auto market. The Tata Tiago has carved out a strong position in the small car segment, standing out for its exceptional features and premium safety. Its popularity is largely driven by its 4-star Global NCAP safety rating, enhancing its appeal as a safe and reliable choice. Additionally, the Tata Tiago was honored with the 2017 CNB Entry Hatchback of the Year award, further solidifying its status in the market.
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800
The Maruti Suzuki Alto has been a longstanding favorite in India, firmly establishing its presence among Indian consumers. Even in 2024, the Alto remains popular, with an average of three lakh monthly searches.
